Milne Family - James and Ellen Milne - (Second generation)

John and Jane's fourth son James was 14 years old when he arrived in New Zealand. In 1879 he married Isabella's sister Ellen Dean McColloch (m.1879/1650).
Two children followed John Henry  and Ellen Anne. Sadly in 1882 Ellen, only 22 years old, possibly suffering from post-natal depression and overwhelming exhaustion from raising two young children on her own she drowned her two children and herself in a well.

From 1911 - 1919 a James Milne is recorded as labourer in the electoral district of New Lynn. James died on Christmas Day 1920 in Invercargill age 71 and is buried with his wife and two children at the Eastern Cemetery, Invercargill.
