Milne Family - David and Margaret Milne (Second generation)


John and Jane's second eldest son David b. 26 Feb 1848 Clatt, Aberdeenshire was 17 years old when he arrived in New Zealand.

Between 1875–1880 David, a farmer, resident at Longbush not far from Woodlands.

In 1878 aged 30, David married Margaret Ford (1857–1943). (m.1878/3123)

Children followed

Mary Jane born 1880 married Henry Thomas Selwood in 1915. In 1939 age 59 yrs Mary died.

Annie Isabella born 1883 married William Scott (1885–1953) in 1907. Annie died in 1955, Christchurch and is buried at the Waimairi cemetery.

James Henry born in 1884 married Anne Elizabeth Duthie (1886–1969) in 1906. James died in 1935 and is buried in the Invercargill cemetery.

John Ford born in 1887 at only 23 years old John died on the 21 April 1911 and is buried in the Eastern cemetery Invercargill, with his parents.

Possible it is David's brother who is the Chairman of the Wyndham Licensing Committee?

In 1900 David and Margaret live in Bowmont St., Invercargill. David's occupation is labourer.
Still living at 6 Bowmont St. in 1911–1914 David is a carter and their children John Ford (24 yrs) and Victoria (23 yrs) are living with them.

On 10 May 1919 John died aged 67 yrs his wife Margaret lived another 24 years dying on the 23 May 1943 age 86 years. Margaret is buried with her husband John, their sons John Henry and David and their three stillborn babies at the Eastern cemetery, Invercargill.
